How is the illuminance of a Nichia lamp calculated?

How is the illuminance of a Nichia lamp calculated?

Many major UV LED manufacturers provide a professional specification sheet for each model of UV LED chip. One of the items listed in the specification sheet is ‘Radiant Flux’, measured in (mW). This value refers to what we call illuminance or luminous power density; it does not refer to electrical power, but rather to the portion of the light output that is in the ultraviolet spectrum following photoelectric conversion. In other words, it is UV intensity.

Let us now discuss how the ‘Radiant Flux’ values in the specifications provided by NICHIA, the Japanese manufacturer, are derived, and the tools and algorithms used to calculate them.

→ Regarding the measurement method, measurements are taken using an integrating sphere.

For information on the equipment, please refer to the attachment (SE-KSE003025). However, as the attachment is intended for lighting purposes, with regard to the beam splitter, it isUVCorrespondingly.

→Regarding the conversion between radiant irradiance and radiation flux values, radiation flux[mW] =Irradiance[mW/cm²] ×Area[cm²]。
