How to Store UV Lamps Correctly
The correct way to store UV lamps; the correct way to store UV LEDs; how should LED chips be stored?

1. Most products are classified as moisture sensitivity level 3 (JEDEC MSL3). For further details on moisture sensitivity levels, please refer to IPC/JEDEC STD-020.
2. When this product is subjected to heat during soldering, the moisture absorbed by the encapsulant may evaporate and cause expansion, leading to cracking at the interface between the outer casing and the encapsulant resin, and resulting in poor optical performance. Therefore, in order to minimise moisture absorption prior to soldering and assembly, Nichia Corporation uses moisture-proof packaging. The desiccant inside the aluminium moisture-proof product pouch gradually changes colour from blue to red as it absorbs moisture.
3. Once the aluminium moisture-proof product bag has been opened, the product must be stored under the storage conditions specified above (for aluminium moisture-proof product bags after opening) until welding and installation are complete. Any remaining product must be stored in a sealed container containing a desiccant; ideally, it should be resealed and stored in a Nippon Steel aluminium moisture-proof product bag.
4. If the storage period has expired, the LEDs must be baked. Furthermore, even within the storage period, baking should be carried out if the desiccant loses its original blue colour. Baking may only be carried out once.
5. The electrodes of this product are gold-plated; if exposed to an environment containing corrosive gases, the gold-plated surface may deteriorate, thereby affecting the weld strength. Once opened, this product must be stored in a sealed container; it is best to reseal it and store it in Nichiya’s aluminium moisture-proof product bags.
6. Do not use materials containing sulphur in the product (gaskets, adhesives, etc. may contain sulphur). Abnormalities on the plated surface may lead to poor electrical contact, which could affect the product’s electrical performance. If washers are required, it is best to use silicone washers. However, please note that low-molecular-weight siloxanes may cause poor electrical contact in the product.
7. This product should be stored in a location where temperature fluctuations are minimal, as condensation may occur in locations subject to significant temperature fluctuations.
8. Do not store in a dusty environment.
9. Do not leave the product exposed for prolonged periods to direct sunlight or to temperatures above room temperature.
